本中心設立宗旨在於配合本校邁向國際化、提升外語教學水準和培養國際人才。
負責教授全校「大一英文」、「大二英文」、『英文』及「英文證照實務」課程，
並舉辦全校性英語競賽與英語測驗。本中心未來將繼續建置友善英語自學環境，
激勵學生自發性英語學習，營造全英文學習環境，充實英文自學資源，規劃並提供
全校語言教學及學習所需之軟硬體設備。
Our Mission
The Language Center of Overseas Chinese University was established to enhance students’ cross-cultural communication. The Language Center is responsible for the teaching English courses for all students. The Center also promotes the use of various language learning resources. The common English curriculum ensures all the students receive instruction that empower students to compete effectively in today's employment environment.
The Importance of Freshman and Sophomore English
There are two areas that freshmen and sophomores need to improve in learning English: interpersonal communication, reading and writing skills, and English in their professional fields. In order to avoid the potential huge gaps among students' competence, students will be divided into one of the three levels - Basic, Intermediate, and High-intermediate. A sound foundation built from freshman and sophomore English courses will empower students to be in applying for overseas internship program and exchange student program successfully. They will also improve students' academic capability and their qualification for the future job market. Furthermore, their global perspectives will be broadened and their lives will be much more fruitful.
